Towcester 2nd XV moved into the
Midlands reserve league to play against the best teams in the Midlands area to support the 1st XV on there new journey in National 3 , Having met Hinckley twice last year in friendlys the 2s knew what to expect and Hinckley being crowned league champions just as the 2s had become this game was going to be very interesting . The game started in Tows favour with Jonty Barrie getting the points on the board in 3mins but Cam Young was unable to get the conversion this gave Tows the boost they needed and to settle nerves . Some 29 mins later Hinckley hit back and also missed the conversion . Tows slowed the game down to keep possession and made a break from a ruck for Youn Skelton to get the Tows back on track but again couldn't put on the extra 2 points from the conversion .On the 39th min Harry Hopewell got his 1st yellow and 10 minutes on the bench this allowed Hinckley for the 1st time to take control of the game within the 1st half .Tows at the start of the 2nd half conceeded another try . Time for fresh legs to come James Petit and Fraser Kerns with Matt Whitlock taking up the front row this helped and Tows again took control of the game with possession but made some silly mistakes and let Hinckley in to score the final try and conversion of the game . The score doesn't do the game justice this was the best game I've watched in a long while and if we make mistakes at this level we are going to get punished final score 24-10
