Tows development side turned up at Daventry having lost several players to the 1st XV and unavailability

Tows development side turned up at Daventry having lost several players to the 1st XV and unavailability but welcoming back 1st XV players Ben Roe from injury and Sam Sturley. Despite this the development side put in a solid performance and were unlucky to come away without a W. Due to the lack of numbers for the first time this season Tows saw numerous changes in the usual side with centre Matt Huck having to cover in the back row and Mark Garwood stepping up to fill the empty place at hooker.

Tows took there time getting into the game struggling to secure the ball at the breakdowns and commiting too many numbers at the breakdown making hard work for ourselves. Daventry capitalised on this and took a quick 8-0 lead through a penalty and a breakaway try from their flanker and it could have been more but for some fantastic defense which kept Tows in the game. Tows regrouped and started to take a better control of the game, they finally got the try they deserved after 20mins when Twinny switched to the blindside and Matt Huck was able to break through two tackles to score.

The second half started just how tows wanted, Sam Aitchison found some space and showed his pace by weaving through Daventry players to score with Ben Roe adding the conversion. Daventry came back and it took more great defense work to keep them out, Daventry finally got a try when Tows were unable to stop a well worked maul which was pushed over the Tows line leaving the score at 13-12. Tows refused to give up and gave there all to get another score and were unfortunate when they got a kickable opportunity but chose to run the ball and go for the try.

Can't fault the effort the boys put in and shows were capable of playing at a higher level.
