Many of our boys are still out with injury, so it was another week of players adapting to a stretched selection with many out of position.

That being said, it was a proper team effort today and I’m proud of the way everyone pulled together as a unit to beat a quality side that aren’t used to be being beaten.

For the first twenty minutes, I don’t think we managed to get out of our 22. Massive efforts by our forwards to keep their advancing pack at bay and big tackles from all players kept the score at 0 - 0 until they managed to eventually break through for a try but missed conversion. 0 - 5 to them.

Jacob was playing no.10 again today and did a decent job of filling Harvey’s boots. A good kick-off and instant pressure from us. JJ breaking free and a great run put us inside their five yard line. One big push from the big man, Ruben, and our Prop broke through their line to land his first Tows try. They were only leading for a few minutes, so a quick score from us gave us real confidence and bit of momentum.

Half time score was 5 - 5.

They brought 25 players and were rotating their squad throughout the game. We only had two subs due to our injuries, so lasting the game was key. Second half started with some real energy and Ruben managed to get his second try! Unfortunately we didn’t get the conversion but we still had the advantage. Another rotation of players by Bromsgrove and it was their turn to pressure us. We soaked it up, but a decent run from their winger with a few missed tackles brought them back in to the game with a try and conversion. 10 - 12 to Bromsgrove.

Once again we battled back and a string of penalties from them being constantly off-side gave us a real opportunity. Ricardo and Taylor ran hard at their defensive line and eventually secured us a try. They were off-side yet again - after being warned by the ref - and he therefore gave it as a Penalty Try. 17 - 12 to Tows.

The last six minutes was all Bromsgrove. Massive effort from the boys to keep them back. Every player putting their bodies on the line. Time was up, but they were camped out on our five yard line with possession. It wasn’t looking good, but our defence forced them in to a mistake, giving us a hard fought win. Well done boys.
